The Year in One Post

This post is of the last year in review.  I've gotten behind on blogging and would like to get caught up so here is the quick version.  Last year for Christmas we spent it at Matt's parents house.  Carter LOVED it!  When he opened his present from his Nana and Papa he was so excited to see a Thomas the Train set.  Lets just say that's what he played with the rest of the day and didn't even want to eat or open any other presents.  Later that week we got together with my family for a Christmas party.  It was nice because my brother Thom flew in from Japan.  It was really nice to see him.  All of us siblings were there except for Sabrina.  Unfortunately she got really sick and couldn't come.  We sure missed her!

My nephew Asher was able to make it to our Christmas party too.  It was so nice to see him again!

Fast forward to February.  On February 6th I found out we were expecting a baby in October!!  Carter doesn't look too thrilled in this picture, but let's say he was very excited.  He really just didn't want to hold still for me to take a picture.

The day before Easter our ward had a Easter egg hunt.  It was fun watching Carter look for the eggs...although it wasn't too hard since there were eggs everywhere.

This was Easter morning.  We did a little egg hunt in our house for him and had a little Easter basket waiting for him.  He loved it!

That afternoon we headed over to Nana and Papa's house for another egg hung and a family dinner.

For Carter's 3rd birthday he had a Thomas the Train birthday.  He loved it of course since that's basically his favorite thing.

He was spoiled with more Thomas the Train sets and an awesome swimming pool.
Carter's cousin Jayson was able to come to his party too which was fun.  Here they are playing together.

WTFN family reunion.  Every year we have our family reunion with my family.  This year we went to the courthouse in Junction, Ut.  Carter had a BLAST!  Seriously, he still talks about going there.  He wouldn't take a nap and it was hard getting him to go to bed because he was having so much fun playing with all of his cousins.

In June we drove to Washington to visit with Abe and Grace.  It was beautiful and the weather was perfect.  Carter loved playing with baby Henry.  One of the days while we were there we went to Seattle.  We took a little ride on a ferry.  Carter loved riding on the "boat".  We also went to Pikes Market and ate lunch there and walked around.

It got pretty cold on the ferry so we decided to go inside

July 5th was the year mark from when we lost Porter.  We got some balloons and put them on his grave and had a little picnic on the grass next to it.  Carter didn't want to leave the balloons on the grave and just wanted to play with it.

Its really weird knowing its been a year since I held little Porter in my arms.  I hate how fast time is going and that these years are flying by.  It just means that its mean longer since I held that little boy.

In September we drove up to Sundance and walked around.  It was really pretty and the weather was perfect.

Carter loved throwing leaves down into the water

Porter's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Porter's 1st Birthday on November 30.  It was weird not having him there with us to celebrate.  It was an emotional day, but I didn't want it to be a depressing day so we spent time with family and decorated his grave.  Since Christmas was right around the corner we put a little Christmas tree where his headstone should be.  We then went over to Matt's parents house and each of us wrote a little note to Porter and tied it to a string attached to a balloon.  We took the balloons outside and gave them to Carter to let them go into the sky.  Carter didn't really understand what we were doing so Papa helped out a bit.  It felt good to send a little message to him even though he can't really read it.  After letting the balloons go we all went out for dinner.
We didn't have Porter's headstone in yet, since they said the ground was too cold to put it in so we just guessed where it should be.

 Carter liked watching the balloons.

After we got back from eating dinner Carter loved to play with the train.  He is only a "little" obsessed with trains.

He seriously watched this train for a good hour or two.
